Scotty Reams, University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy Class of 2021 and Kentucky Pharmacists Association (KPhA) Board of Directors member, has been awarded the APhA Good Government Student Pharmacist-of-the-Year Award. The award recognizes a student pharmacist who has successfully organized student pharmacist grassroots activity within their chapter and actively promoted the value of advocating for the profession. Scotty will receive his award at the APhA Annual Meeting & Exposition in National Harbor, MD, March 20–23, 2020.

On October 15, 2019, Dr. Aaron Cook, R275 (PharmD '00) was named Fellow of Neurocritical Care (FNCS) recipient at the Neurocritical Care Society meeting in Vancouver. This is a well-deserved honor and the culmination of years of advanced practice, research, and service to the society. The Fellow of Neurocritical Care Society qualifications are based on contributions to the field of neurocritical care in the areas of professionalism and collaborative multi-professional practice, program development, scholarly activity, and leadership.
Susan C. Fagan, Alicia B. Forinash, Gary R. Matzke, John E.Murphy, Edith A. Nutescu, and Frank Romanelli have been selected by the College’s Awards Committee to receive ACCP’s prestigious 2019 Therapeutic Frontiers Lecture Award, Clinical Practice Award, C. Edwin Webb Professional Advocacy Award, Robert M. Elenbaas Service Award, Russell R. Miller Award, and Education Award respectively. The awards will be presented in New York, New York, on Sunday morning, October 27, during the Awards and Recognition Ceremony of the College’s 2019 Annual Meeting.
The UK College of Pharmacy’s Center for Advancement of Pharmacy Practice (CAPP) is excited to offer CE training courses for Acute Influenza and Acute Streptococcal Pharyngitis point-of-care testing pursuant to Kentucky Board of Pharmacy authorized protocols. This training includes both a home-study component and a live skills workshop. To participate in the combined flu and strep training, you must complete the registrations for both.
The University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy will host its tenth annual Therapeutics, Outcomes, Discovery & Delivery (TODD) Symposium from 8:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2019, in room 124 of the Lee T. Todd, Jr. Building. The TODD Symposium will discuss the development of substance use disorder therapeutics from prevention to cure. The symposium will also highlight the discoveries of therapeutics and diagnostics to address the unmet clinical need for patients suffering from substance use disorder within the Commonwealth and beyond.

The culmination of almost two years of collaborative effort was achieved this past December when the Health & Welfare & Family Services Interim Joint Committee of the Kentucky Legislature approved regulation 201 KAR 2:380, board authorized protocols.

Anne Policastri, Pharm.D., M.B.A., FASHP, FKSHP, will join ASHP as the new Director, Membership and Affiliate Relations Division within the Office of Member Relations. The position will lead efforts to oversee relationships with state affiliates, among others, and to assist in membership growth and development.
