In Memoriam: Dr. Hsin-Hsiung Daniel Tai
The University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy is deeply saddened by the passing of Hsin-Hsiung Daniel Tai, Ph.D., a longtime faculty member whose career exemplified excellence in research, mentorship and service.
Tai dedicated 35 years to the University of Kentucky, where he rose through the academic ranks and became one of the College of Pharmacy’s most respected scholars. In 1986, he was named a University of Kentucky Research Professor, a distinction awarded to only a small number of the university’s most accomplished faculty, recognizing his influential and sustained contributions to pharmaceutical sciences and prostaglandin research.
Throughout his career, Tai published more than 300 scholarly works, contributed to patented innovations and helped establish a UK spin-off company later acquired by industry, with proceeds supporting the university. His commitment to mentoring students and advancing scientific knowledge left a lasting imprint on the college and the broader research community.
The UK College of Pharmacy joins his family, friends and colleagues in honoring a life defined by curiosity and service. His impact will continue to be felt through the students he mentored, the research he advanced and the institution he helped strengthen.
Memorial service details are available in the official obituary.
