In an effort to better serve our graduate students and alumni, the UK College of Pharmacy (UKCOP) has partnered with alumni to establish a Communications Advisory Board for the graduate research program. The alumni-run Advisory Board was created in spring 2019 to assist the College in its outreach efforts to students and alumni of the PhD program. This group will serve as a liaison to the College of Pharmacy, helping to enhance their communication efforts and providing critical feedback on alumni needs. They will be a resource for those interested in the UKCOP graduate program and will help solicit feedback from both alumni and students.

Members of the inaugural Graduate Program Communications Advisory Board include Aimee Bence (PhD, 2001), David Burgio (1996), Joe Fleishaker (1987), Priyanka Ghosh (2013), Phil Mayer (1981) and Jigna Patel (2006).

The objectives of the Communications Advisory Board include:

  • Enabling PhD graduates of the College to maintain professional contacts with fellow graduates and while enhancing ongoing connections to the College and its current students
  • Providing current graduate students with networking and mentoring opportunities and career advice from former UKCOP students
  • Increasing communication among friends and graduates of the UKCOP graduate program through regular communication in newsletters and a vibrant LinkedIn group

Contributions to the UKCOP online newsletter will represent some of the first efforts of this group. If anyone is interested in contributing ideas, please contact a member of the Advisory Board or email the UKCOP Alumni Director Rosa Mejia at rosa.mejia@uky.edu. The College’s first alumni and friends’ newsletter will launch in August 2019. To ensure you receive a copy, please make sure your email address is on file at the College, which can be done by emailing copfrontdesk@uky.edu at your earliest convenience.
