J. Russell May Named 2018 Parker Award Recipient

Dr. J. Russell (Rusty) May, a UK College of Pharmacy alumnus and R98 in the UK HealthCare Pharmacy Residency program, has been named the 2018 recipient of the Paul F. Parker Award. May will receive this honor at UK's annual Parker Luncheon at the 2018 American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) Midyear Clinical Meeting and Exhibition in Anaheim, California.

Russell Mumper ('91) Named Vice President for Research at Alabama

Dr. Russell J. Mumper has been named The University of Alabama’s vice president for research and economic development effective Jan. 1, 2019. A vice provost from the University of Georgia who previously led four research centers or institutes co-founded five start-up companies, and received nearly $30 million in research grants and contracts, Mumper was selected following a national search.

The Power of the Kentucky Connection

When Mary H. H. Ensom first chose to call the University of Kentucky (UK) her home in 1973, she was an engineering major at her father’s encouragement. Ensom’s father, Pete Huang, set an inspiring example for his three children as a distinguished civil engineering professor at UK. Nonetheless, her father’s passion for engineering wasn’t enough to prevent Ensom from realizing that her interests and talent were leading her in a different direction.

UKCOP Alumnus Housley Named Assistant Operations Executive for UK HealthCare

J.J. Housley, PharmD, MBA, a 2011 UK College of Pharmacy graduate, recently moved into the position of Assistant Operations Executive for UK HealthCare. In this role, he has administrative responsibility for patient progression, including capacity management, laboratory services, post-acute care partnerships, case management, social work, patient transport, palliative care, hospice, and EVS. In his new role, JJ will continue working on projects to support and enhance the enterprise and further develop operational initiatives.

Alumnus Bryan Taylor Releases Harrowing Memoir

Bryan Taylor was married five years before his late wife, Kailen, passed away from breast cancer in 2015. She was 25. Taylor recently completed a memoir about Kailen, entitled Even if you don’t, which is available today on Amazon.

Brooke Hudspeth Helps Secure $7.5 Million Grant from CDC

UK College of Pharmacy alumnus Dr. Brooke Hudspeth was integral in the grant application on behalf of The Kroger Company for the expansion of the Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP). Kroger Pharmacy began providing diabetes prevention services at their community pharmacy residency site in Lexington, KY in 2015 and quickly expanded to their Louisville residency site and other locations throughout the state.

James Cloyd ('76) Receives J. Kiffin Penry Award for Excellence in Epilepsy Care

James Cloyd (Class of 1976) has been selected to receive the American Epilepsy Society (AES) 2017 J. Kiffin Penry Award for Excellence in Epilepsy Care.

DiPiro to Provide 2017 Foster Lecture

UK College of Pharmacy alumnus and Dean of Virginia Commonwealth University School of Pharmacy Dr. Joseph T. DiPiro has been selected to provide keynote remarks during the College’s annual Dr. Thomas S. Foster Leadership Day. Dr. DiPiro lecture is entitled “’Leadership in Times of Change.” The Foster Lecture will take place at noon on Friday, October 20 at the UK College of Pharmacy. The program is part of the College’s efforts to recognize the outstanding leadership and academic and research excellence of the late Thomas S. Foster.
