K'Quan McNease's time is split between studying journalism at the University of Kentucky and caring for his foster children. Most of their parents have abused opioids, he said, so the issue of the opioid epidemic in Kentucky hits close to home for him. The problem is well-known. Many Kentuckians are personally affected, and the epidemic —and the devastation it brings — is frequently cited in local and national news stories. But McNease wonders how many of those Kentuckians know how to help someone who has overdosed?
Bluegrass Community Health Center and The University of Kentucky (UK) College of Pharmacy have announced an expanding partnership to create a new pharmacy residency program located in Lexington, Kentucky. The postgraduate year two (PGY2) Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Residency Program is jointly-sponsored by Bluegrass Community Health Center and the UK College of Pharmacy. It is the first pharmacy residency program at Bluegrass Community Health Center, a Federally Qualified Health Center and National Committee for Quality Assurance Level 3 Patient-Centered Medical Home.

It is our pleasure to announce that Kip Guy has been named Dean of the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy. Kip joins us from St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, where he currently serves as chairperson of the Department of Chemical Biology and Therapeutics. We anticipate Kip will assume his new role on October 1, 2016.
