The University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy (UKCOP) continues its legacy of leadership in Kentucky's pharmacy community as two faculty members have been elected to consecutive terms as president of the Kentucky Society of Health-System Pharmacists (KSHP).

Bryan, Freeman appointed new leadership roles

The University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy announced a leadership transition within the Center for the Advancement of Pharmacy Practice (CAPP). Kyle Bryan, PharmD, has been appointed director of professional affairs, succeeding Trish Freeman, Ph.D., who will assume a new role as vice chair for research in the Department of Pharmacy Practice & Science.

In memoriam: Dr. Anwar A. Hussain Professor emeritus and visionary scientist

The University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy mourns the passing of Anwar A. Hussain, Ph.D., professor emeritus, fellow of the Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences and one of the most influential scientists in the history of the University of Kentucky. Hussain passed away on Nov. 5, 2025, after a lifetime devoted to advancing the science of drug delivery and improving patient care.

Rush Named 2025 Paul F. Parker Award Recipient

David R. Rush, PharmD, R29, emeritus professor of medicine and clinical pharmacology at the University of Missouri–Kansas City (UMKC) Schools of Medicine and Pharmacy, has been named the 2025 recipient of the Paul F. Parker Award. This distinguished honor, presented annually at the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) Midyear Clinical Meeting, recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to advancing pharmacy practice, education, and leadership in the spirit of the late Paul F. Parker, founder of the University of Kentucky’s nationally renowned residency program.

Leading the Nation in Diagnosis Education College of Pharmacy Sets the Standard for Pharmacy Training

Now entering its eighth year, the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy (UKCOP) was the first pharmacy school in the nation to require a dedicated, stand-alone Diagnosis course. This innovative approach is now the new national standard: beginning July 2025, the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) requires basic diagnostic instruction at all accredited U.S. pharmacy schools.

Leigh Ann Keeton to lead UKCOP expansion in Ashland

LEXINGTON, Ky. (July 14, 2025) — The University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy (UKCOP) is proud to announce the appointment of Leigh Ann Keeton, Pharm.D., BCPS, as clinical assistant professor. In her new role, Keeton will spearhead the development of the Ashland Clinical Education Center (CEC), a transformative partnership between UKCOP and UK King's Daughters aimed at advancing experiential education and pharmacy practice in Eastern Kentucky.
