Early Assurance Pathway (EAP)

The Early Assurance Pathway (EAP) is a unique opportunity for incoming students to secure a guaranteed spot in the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program at the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy before they even finish their undergraduate degree. Students admitted into the EAP are guaranteed a spot in the PharmD program, provided they meet all matriculation criteria throughout their time in the Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences (BSPS) program.

How It Works

Students in the EAP complete their undergraduate studies in the BSPS program while working toward the requirements for pharmacy school requirements. Depending on their academic starting point, students can complete the pathway in 2, 3, or 4 years.

Initial Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the EAP, students must:

• Apply to and be admitted into the BSPS program
• Have a minimum 3.5 high school GPA
• Submit a statement of interest

Maintaining Status in the EAP

Once admitted, students must remain in good standing by:

• Maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA overall, and in math and science coursework
• Earning a “C” or better in all prerequisite courses
• Actively participating in the Pre-Pharmacy Club
• Meeting with a Pre-Pharmacy Advisor at least once each semester to stay on track with their timeline and prerequisite completion

Guaranteed Admission

EAP students are guaranteed a spot in the PharmD program only if all matriculation criteria are met. Even with EAP status, students must still complete the full PharmD admissions process, including:

• Submission of a PharmCAS application
• An admissions interview
• Approval from the Admissions Committee
• Successful completion of a drug screening and background check

The EAP is designed to give motivated students a clear, supported path from high school into pharmacy school with built-in guidance every step of the way.
