Continuing our highlights for Preceptor Appreciation Month, we spoke with Jessica Tackett about her experience as a preceptor for the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy over the last decade. Tackett has been a preceptor with UKCOP for 11 years and currently works as a Clinical Pharmacist at the UK HealthCare Good Samaritan Hospital. She helps care for hospitalized patients by optimizing medication usage, facilitating short length of hospital stays and ensuring that patient needs are met at discharge for their transition home.

Originally from Kentucky, Tuesday Meadows graduated from UK with a degree in Business Administration in 1977 and is the current president of the Pride Cats LGBTQ Group of the UK Alumni Association. She also works with UK HealthCare as a citizen advocate through Transform Health and other groups, and has served on multiple patient panels within the College of Pharmacy.

In honor of June being Preceptor Appreciation Month, we recently spoke with Dr. Lindsey Lewis Nolan about her experience as a preceptor at the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy. Nolan, who has held a 2-year-long position as a preceptor at UKCOP, currently works as a Transitions of Care Clinical Pharmacist Specialist at Norton Healthcare in Louisville, Kentucky. Nolan specializes in optimizing patient care by focusing on medication reconciliation, medication therapy management, resolution of medication access barriers and patient education.

When it comes to displaying leadership in a pharmacy career, Mark Huffmyer excels. Huffmyer, a 2014 graduate of the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy, is the UK College of Pharmacy 2021 Preceptor of the Year award recipient and works as a Clinical Staff Pharmacist in the Anticoagulation Clinic at the UK HealthCare Gill Heart and Vascular Institute. He helps patients taking high-risk blood thinning medications and adjusts their medication doses based on laboratory monitoring, goals of care, provider recommendations and duration of therapy.
