UK HealthCare Study Uncovers Quality of Medication

UK HealthCare is one of only two known pharmacy groups examining and testing incoming medications for dispensing for quality, purity, and potential contamination. A recent drug study revealed that several vials in their contents had impurities greater than 6 times the amount allowed by the United States Pharmacopeia.

Working for the Greater Good: from Pharmacy School to the Air Force

The United States has one of the largest militaries in the entire world, with over a million brave individuals putting their lives on the line for the greater good. One of those individuals is Becca Seagraves, a 2019 UKCOP graduate and pharmacist in the Air Force. Seagraves's military career required her to continually adapt as she quickly went from a recent pharmacy grad to being in charge of a team of over 25 people at the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Pharmacy.

Cindy Stowe Named 2020 Paul Parker Award Recipient

Cindy Stowe (BS ’91, PharmD ’91, R201), Dean at the University of Arkansas for Medical Science College of Pharmacy, has been named the 2020 recipient of the Paul F. Parker Award. She will receive the award during the 2020 American Society of Health-System Pharmacists Midyear Meeting.

UK College of Pharmacy Collaboration Results in $2.9 Million Grant to Advance Epilepsy Research

Björn Bauer and a team of six co-investigators recently received $2.9 million from the National Institutes of Health to support their mission to find therapeutic strategies to resolve neurovascular inflammation and repair blood-brain barrier dysfunction in epilepsy.

College of Pharmacy Hosting Graduate Student Open House

The University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy will host a virtual Open House for prospective graduate students at 4:00 p.m. EDT on Thursday, October 29, 2020. PharmNMR Center Awarded $1.5 Million Grant to Accelerate Chemistry and Drug Discovery at UK

The University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy was recently awarded a prestigious NIH High-End Instrumentation grant to support the purchase of a state-of-the-art nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectrometer, an instrument critical to supporting chemistry efforts at the University of Kentucky. Sylvie Garneau-Tsodikova, a professor in the College of Pharmacy’s Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, is the principal investigator on the $1.5 million grant.
