History of the Wonders of Pharmacy
The Wonders of Pharmacy was created by Olufunmilola Abraham, Ph.D, at the University of Wisconsin–Madison School of Pharmacy and first launched in March 2024.
Designed as an interactive outreach event for high school students and their families, the program featured more than 30 hands-on stations led by PharmD students, alumni, and practicing pharmacists. Through engaging activities and real-world conversations, participants explored how medications work and how pharmacists make meaningful differences in patients’ lives.
“Young people need deeper reasons, more meaningful reasons to want to be pharmacists,” said Abraham. “They want to understand that they can make a difference.”
The initiative was inspired by the long-running Wonders of Physics program at UW–Madison, bringing the same spirit of curiosity and discovery to the profession of pharmacy.
