Our iPad Initiative was started in 2016 to provide a common computing platform for our students. We provide an iPad to each student upon their arrival, which students get to keep upon successful graduation from our program.

Having a common learning platform enhances collaboration and provides all students with the same set of tools. iPad also helps faculty to provide a more dynamic learning experience for our students while reducing specialized technical support needed with diverse platforms. iPads are easy to use and simple to fix. If your iPad breaks, bring it to our in-house tech support team for an easy exchange.

Will my activity on the iPad be monitored?

No

We can not monitor your day-to-day activities on your iPad, read your e-mails, view your web history, or view any files on your iPad. The College does use a mobile device management system to provide a method to deliver content to your iPad. While this system does collect data on the apps that are installed it does not provide data on when, where, or how those apps were used.

In short, the data on your iPad is completely private and the management software can only be used to assist with academic and technical support.

Technical Support

There are two major places to receive technical assistance. First, is the University's Tech Help Center. At this site you'll find thousands of articles covering almost every possible need. If your question isn't answered there please visit the College's IT Department.

FAQs

When will I receive my iPad?

iPads are distributed during orientation. For those unable to attend early orientation please contact the Office of Academic and Student Affairs to arrange an alternative distribution date.

What device and accessories am I receiving?

You will receive a 10th Generation iPad with 64 gigabytes of storage and a second-generation Apple Pencil.

Can I take the iPad home over breaks?

Yes, feel free to take the iPad wherever you wish.

Do you recommend I purchase a keyboard?

While not expressly necessary, a keyboard would increase the productivity of the iPad for common class scenarios such as writing papers or answering long-form test questions. One keyboard we recommend is the Logitech Slim Keyboard Folio. It provides complete protection of the iPad as well as a place to store your Apple Pencil.

Who owns the iPad?

While you are a student at the College of Pharmacy the iPad is considered University property. Once you have graduated from our program, all university-provided software will be removed and the iPad will officially belong to you.

Are there any prohibited actions on the iPad?

You are free to use your iPad for both school work and leisure. Read books, play games, stream videos as you please. The only banned actions are jailbreaking the iPad, removing the University installed management software, or using the device for illegal activities.
