Curricular Reform

The University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy has a long history of innovation, pioneering changes in pharmacy, health care, and pharmaceutical research. The practice of pharmacy is evolving and so too is our approach to teaching and learning. Our blended learning approach gives students more responsibility for and control over their own learning. Launching in the fall 2016 semester, our new curriculum will emphasize collaboration, communication, student autonomy, critical thinking, and problem solving. Students will spend less time in lectures and more time applying what they’ve learned to solve real-life, complex health care problems. They will work together in groups to solve problems and practice articulating ideas clearly to better prepare for working effectively as part of a professional team of physicians, nurses, residents, and pharmacists providing the highest quality patient care.
