June Publications for Melody Ryan

June 15, 2004

Melody Ryan has published both an article and a book chapter this month. Her manuscript emtitled "Feasibilty and limitations of oxcarbazepine monitoring using salivary 10-hyroxy 10-11- dihydro carbazepine (MHD)" was published in this month's issue of "Therapeutic Drug Monitoring." Ryan also wrote the chapter entitled "Neurology" in the 2004 edition of "Updates in Therapeutics: The Pharmacotherapy Preparatory Course" published by ACCP this month. Ryan presented the information in her chapter this month to the ACCP.

Community Residency Program Accredited

The ASHP Commission on Credentialing has approved the accreditation of the College's Community Pharmacy Residency for three years. This is the initial accreditation of this program. Dr. Holly Divine has done an outstanding job of developing this residency program to the level it is at currently.

Akers Awarded American Heart Association Grant

May 17, 2004

Scott Akers has just been notified that his project entitled "Differential Regulation of MAP kinases and Protein Kinase B by Angiotension II Subtype Receptors During Myocardial Ischemia-Reperfusion Injury" has been funded by the American Heart Association. The award will be a two year grant, in the amount of $121,000. Congratulations Scott!!

Romanelli and Smith Win National Teaching Award

April 27, 2004

Frank Romanelli and Kelly Smith were selected as winners of the 2004 AACP Council of Faculties Innovations in Teaching Competition. They will be presenting their innovation "Development and Implementation of a Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Certificate Program for Pharmacy Residents" at the 2004 AACP Annual Meeting in July. The team will receive a $1200 stipend from AACP to attend the meeting.

Foster to Chair Nominations Committee
