John Armitstead had an abstract presented at the ASHP Summer Meeting entitled "Design and Implementation of a Web-Based Vendor Registration System". The meeting was held in Las Vegas on June 21st. Phil Empey, Terri Dawson, and Ann Hamlin were co-authors of the abstract.

Jeremy Flynn has just been awarded the 2004 ACCP Sanofi-Synthelabo Thrombosis Investigator Development Research Award. His proposal was entitled "Clinical Utility of the Rapid Platelet Function Analyzer." Jeremy will receive $15,000 for this award from the ACCP Research Institute.

Scott Akers and Jeremy Flynn have published an article in the July 2004 issue of Pharmacotherapy. Their article is entitled "Treatment of Respiratory Syncytial Virus Pneumonia with Ribavirin and RSV Hyperimmune Globulin in a Lung Transplant Recipient: Case report and review of the literature."

Scott Akers has been published in two seperate journals this month. His article entitled "Effects of Clonidine on Cardiac Norepinephrine Spillover in Isolated Rat Heart" was published in this month's "Journal of Cardiovascular Pharmacology." This manuscript is also coauthored by a recent faculty appointee, Jeremy Flynn.

Melody Ryan has published both an article and a book chapter this month. Her manuscript emtitled "Feasibilty and limitations of oxcarbazepine monitoring using salivary 10-hyroxy 10-11- dihydro carbazepine (MHD)" was published in this month's issue of "Therapeutic Drug Monitoring." Ryan also wrote the chapter entitled "Neurology" in the 2004 edition of "Updates in Therapeutics: The Pharmacotherapy Preparatory Course" published by ACCP this month. Ryan presented the information in her chapter this month to the ACCP.

The ASHP Commission on Credentialing has approved the accreditation of the College's Community Pharmacy Residency for three years. This is the initial accreditation of this program. Dr. Holly Divine has done an outstanding job of developing this residency program to the level it is at currently.

Scott Akers has just been notified that his project entitled "Differential Regulation of MAP kinases and Protein Kinase B by Angiotension II Subtype Receptors During Myocardial Ischemia-Reperfusion Injury" has been funded by the American Heart Association. The award will be a two year grant, in the amount of $121,000. Congratulations Scott!!

Melody Ryan and J. S. Butler have completed a poster entitled "Forms and Free Goods: A Retrospective Analysis of Patient Assistance Programs." which was presented last week at the ACCP-ESCP International Congress on Clinical Pharmacy in Paris, France.

Frank Romanelli and Kelly Smith were selected as winners of the 2004 AACP Council of Faculties Innovations in Teaching Competition. They will be presenting their innovation "Development and Implementation of a Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Certificate Program for Pharmacy Residents" at the 2004 AACP Annual Meeting in July. The team will receive a $1200 stipend from AACP to attend the meeting.
