UK College of Pharmacy Faculty and Alumni Honored

At the end of each school year, professional associations and academic institutions across Kentucky and the country reflect on and recognize the achievements of pharmacists that have advanced the profession, served their communities, and mentored our next generation of pharmacists.
The University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy congratulates Drs. Kim Croley, Suzanne Francis, Trish Freeman, Chris Harlow, Anne Policastri, and P. Shane Winstead on these great honors.
Dr. Kim Croley
KPhA Distinguished Service Award
The Distinguished Service Award recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to the Association or the profession at large.
Dr. Crowley, a graduate of the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy, currently serves as a clinical pharmacist at Laurel County Senior Living Communities and is a member of the Corbin Schools Board of Education.
Dr. Suzanne Francis
KPhA Professional Promotion Award
The KPhA Professional Promotion Award recognizes individuals or organizations who have exhibited outstanding efforts to demonstrate the importance of pharmacy as a health care profession, and which promote proper application of pharmacists’ professional services.
Dr. Francis, a graduate of the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy, currently serves as a pharmacist at Kroger in Northern Kentucky.
Dr. Trish Freeman
Cardinal Health Generation Rx Champions Award (Kentucky)
This award recognizes excellence in community-based prescription drug abuse prevention at state pharmacy associations. This award honors a pharmacist who has demonstrated outstanding commitment to raising awareness of the dangers of prescription drug abuse among the general public and among the pharmacy community. The award is also intended to encourage educational prevention efforts aimed at patients, youth and other members of the community.
Dr. Freeman, a graduate of the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy, currently serves as Associate Professor at the college, clinical pharmacist at the Frankfort Regional Medical Center, and President of the 2016-2017 Kentucky Pharmacists Association (KPhA) Board of Directors.
Dr. Chris Harlow
Excellence in Innovation Award Sponsored by Upsher-Smith Laboratories
The Excellence in Innovation Award recognizes a pharmacist who has demonstrated innovative pharmacy practice resulting in improved patient care.
Dr. Harlow, a graduate of the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy, currently serves as Director of Pharmacy at St. Matthews Community Pharmacy.
Dr. Anne Policastri
2016 ASHP Fellow
The ASHP Practitioner Recognition Program grants recognition to and promotes public awareness of pharmacists who have distinguished themselves in pharmacy practice. Individuals who have achieved FASHP status have successfully demonstrated sustained commitment or contributions to excellence in pharmacy practice for 10 years or more, contributed to the total body of knowledge in the field, demonstrated active involvement and leadership in ASHP and other professional organizations, and have actively been involved in and committed to educating practitioners and others.
Dr. Policastri, a graduate of the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy, currently serves as Associate Professor and at the college and Executive Vice President of the Board of Directors of Kentucky Society of Health-System Pharmacists (KSHP).

Honorary R Number (HR2)
Critical Care Resident (CCR1)
Because of her commitment and impact on the residency program at the University of Kentucky, the individuals who have passed through it, and the resultant impact on the profession of clinical pharmacy, the University of Kentucky Pharmacy Residency program recognized Dr. Winstead with an Honorary R number (HR2), as well as recognition as the original critical care resident (CCR 1) at the institution.
Dr. Winstead, former Director of Clinical Pharmacy Services at UK HealthCare and Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy, has been part of the University of Kentucky team for more than 20 years.
