White Coat Ceremony

The time-honored tradition of the White Coat Ceremony has served as an opportunity for members of the pharmacy community to welcome students into the profession, including graduate students demonstrates the importance we place on cross-collaboration between pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences.

Reunions

What better way to reconnect with classmates than reunion weekend? As if you needed another excuse to visit Lexington just in time for football, Big Blue Madness, and Keeland, you'll also get a chance to reminisce about your golden days at UKCOP with old friends.

Homecoming Tailgate

Put on your UKCOP gear and join the pharm fam for our annual Homecoming Tailgate Bash. It’s a signature event—the pharmacy family in a big ol' tent with good food and lots of laughs. It's a family-friendly event with a cash bar.

Mardi Gras Bash

Each year on Fat Tuesday, we celebrate with an all-college meal for the annual Mardi Gras Bash. New Orleans style lunch is provided while we celebrate community and utilize the media wall to play a curated playlist of jazz.

Graduation & Challenge Coin

Our College of Pharmacy Graduation Recognition Ceremony takes place each May, recognizing our graduation PharmD and PhD graduates. Our graduates are also awarded the UKCOP challenge coin during their graduation ceremony as a recognition of their membership in our family and a reminder to “pay it forward,” by continuing our legacy of innovation, collaboration, and excellence.

We wish to remember and honor those who inhabited this Commonwealth before the arrival of the Europeans. Briefly occupying these lands were the Osage, Wyndott tribe, and Miami peoples. The Adena and Hopewell peoples, who are recognized by the naming of the time period in which they resided here, were here more permanently. Some of their mounds remain in the Lexington area, including at UK’s Adena Park.

In more recent years, the Cherokee occupied southeast Kentucky, the Yuchi southwest Kentucky, the Chickasaw extreme western Kentucky and the Shawnee central Kentucky including what is now the city of Lexington. The Shawnee left when colonization pushed through the Appalachian Mountains. Lower Shawnee Town ceremonial grounds are still visible in Greenup County.

We honor the first inhabitants who were here, respect their culture, and acknowledge the presence of their descendants who are here today in all walks of life including fellow pharmacists and healthcare professionals.
